Mo·sa·ic LiFE isn’t just our name, it is also a metaphor and symbol of who we are. A mosaic is an art form of broken and fragmented pieces of glass or tile brought together into a unified creation of beauty by the hands of the artist. We are a community of Jesus followers, committed to re-imagining faith, reconnecting in love, and restoring hope in a fragmented world.

Mosaic LiFE Church is a diverse gathering of people that God brings together to form a “gorgeous mosaic.” Our world is broken in many ways; people are divided by race, injuries, economics, and national borders. We desire to find unity with others through Jesus Christ. We welcome people from all walks of life, regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey. We are meat eaters and vegetarians, democrats and republicans, artists and computer geeks, soccer moms, rockers, and hip hoppers, young couples and empty nesters. We welcome new faces, new experiences, and new friendships as we explore God’s purpose in our lives. People just like you with hopes and dreams doing life together as a gorgeous mosaic.
Love is at the center of all we do: We are people from all walks of life, drawn together by a new awareness of God’s love. We want to be a people whose faith flows from a relationship with a God who loves us all.

Why Mosaic Life?
The current reality
The “homogeneous unit principle”–a popular church planting method– basically says that people are most happy when they’re around people like themselves. It is a sociological description of human behavior, not a biblical mandate or a biblical principle.
While there are churches and ministries that already exist around racial reconciliation, the reality is Dr. Martin Luther King’s words are as true today as they were thirty years ago. Sunday morning is still the most segregated time of the week. As our world has grown in its diversity our separation and segregation from each other has increased.
We are segregated by race or ethnic heritage. Traditionalists are segregated from post-moderns, rich from poor. The churched are segregated from those who are spiritually searching or skeptic. We live in a fractured and fragmented world where God’s mosaic design is rarely evident. Still our world–God’s world–cries out for a different reality, a reality based on transformation not conformation, unity not uniformity, being color rich, not color blind. A mosaic reality!
The Greater Grand Rapids community has seen a significant increase in its racial ethnic diversity. While there are many churches in the greater G. R. community there is still a significant lack of ministries that intentionally seek to gather together unchurched people from diverse people groups. We believe that God is at work to gather God’s gorgeous mosaic here in Grand Rapids. Mosaic is our response to God’s call to join with God in fulfilling that vision in the Greater Grand Rapids community.

Mosaic Life seeks to establish a faith community that brings together people from a variety of races wherever they are in their spiritual journey, to explore and experience the transforming power of God’s love. This we believe is God’s design for humanity–a mosaic: where imperfect people, living in a fragmented world can be transformed by the power of God’s love to become a gorgeous picture of the best life has to offer. This biblical vision is the reason for Mosaic Life.
A new kind of church guided by new applications of ancient truths, to meet spiritual yearnings of a new time beyond the modern era, which gathers a new community that breaks down walls of division among God’s people.
